Evaluation of Cultural Ecosystem Services Using Social Media Data
12-1 PM (MDT)
This webinar, hosted by the Great Northern LCC, will explore how social media provides unique opportunities to understand how people experience their environments. Learn about using qualitative data analysis techniques as well as tools such as species distribution modeling to understand the social and ecological factors determining cultural ecosystem service provisioning. Cultural ecosystem services are the nonmaterial benefits that people receive from ecosystems, such as recreation, spiritual and cultural values, and sense of place. This presentation focuses on an assessment of cultural ecosystem services provided by Idaho’s many rivers. The long term goal of this work is to evaluate the utility of these data sources to help guide conservation decisions at the landscape scale.
